Mizzou @ #6 Georgia Game Preview
Saturday night’s match up between Georgia and Mizzou in Athens seems like a potential blowout game. The tigers come in with a 5-3 record, following consecutive bad road losses to Vanderbilt and Kentucky, while Georgia comes in 7-1, fresh off a big win against Florida.
The Tigers season has been a bit of a disappointment as the team came in with high expectations and has shown nothing to prove they have made any improvements from last season. Clemson transfer Kelly Bryant has done a decent job leading the offense with 1,845 yards through the air with 14 touchdowns, adding 205 yards on the ground and a rushing touchdown. Larry Rountree III has been a key part of the Tigers success as he leads the team with 644 rushing yards and 8 touchdowns. The most disappointing part of this team is the defense, which is 115th in the country in passing defense and 86th in the country in run defense.
The Bulldogs, on the other hand, are sitting in a decent position to win out and have a chance to make the college football playoffs. Their only loss, though, was a rough loss to unranked South Carolina. The offense is lead by star running back D’Andre Swift who has 838 rushing yards and 7 touchdowns on 135 carries. Quarterback Jake Fromm has been somewhat of a glorified game manager as he has thrown for 1,685 yards and 11 touchdowns. Along with their strong run game, Georgia boasts the 58th best defense in terms of total points allowed this season.
Prediction:
There is a strong chance the Tigers can find a way to stay in the game, but I just don’t see it happening. The Bulldogs will run the ball down Mizzou’s throat and there will be nothing the Tigers can do to stop it.
Score Prediction: Georgia wins 34-14
