Tigers Start Season Strong
The college basketball season is finally underway and the Missouri Tigers have started out strong with an 82-42 victory at home against Incarnate Word.
The Tigers were lead in scoring by junior forward Jeremiah Tilmon who put 16 points on 7-9 shooting, with 7 rebounds and 5 blocks. Right behind him was sophomore guard Xavier Pinson who had 15 points on 3-4 shooting from the field, 8-11 shooting from the free throw line, 3 rebounds, and 5 assists.
The leading rebounder was sophomore guard Javon Pickett who grabbed 8 boards while putting up 10 points, shooting 4-9 from the field. Pinson and junior University of Evansville transfer guard Dru Smith led the team with 5 assists.
There weren’t a ton of takeaways from tonight’s game as Incarnate Word is not a very formidable opponent, but the biggest takeaway was that 5 program newcomers put up points, including Smith and freshmen Kobe Brown, Mario Mckinney Jr., Tray Jackson, and Parker Braun.
It was a good start to the season obviously, but we won’t really know how well the team stacks up with the rest of college basketball until the Tigers square off with the 19th ranked Xavier Musketeers next Tuesday.
