Bold Predictions For The ACC in The Upcoming 2019-2020 Season
The ACC reigned supreme last year during the CBB season. Duke was the main conversation throughout the year and Zion was CBB. However, it was the Cavaliers of Virginia that held up a national title in April. This season looks to be equally as entertaining as ACC foes will battle for a shot at a NCAA Tournament Bid.
Duke Will Be Better This Year, Than They Were Last Year
Last year’s Duke team was loaded with talent and looked to be unbeatable on paper. The thing is, that Duke team never really meshed as Cam Reddish or R.J. Barrett could never find their groove. This team comes back with a loaded recruiting class with four top 40 recruits and should mesh a lot better. Another thing will help this Duke team is Tre Jones being able to take full ball handling responsibilities. This Duke team has the ability to win a national championship but it will heavily depend on how well the incoming freshman play.
Louisville Will Be A Top Five Team This Year
This Louisville team looks dangerous. This team is infused with young talent and veteran talent. All three top scorers from last season including pre-season All American Jordan Nwora return. This comes with a recruiting class that ranked 12th in the nation headlined by former five star recruit Samuel Williamson. This team could easily win a National Championship barring any major injuries.
Virginia Will Take A Little Bit Of A Step Back This Year
The defending national champions will be good, but not on the elite level they were at last year. The Cavaliers lose there top three producers in Kyle Guy, Ty Jerome, and De’Andre Hunter. The Hoos will rely mostly on Mamadi Diakte, Braxton Key, Kihei Clark and other players who did not get much playing time last year. UVA did bring in a very good recruiting class and one of the nations top transfers in Sam Hauser. Look for this to be a year where Virginia will be near top of conference, but not quite as dominant . As the team will not have much experience and will be without Hauser who has to sit a year because of NCAA transfer rules.
Notre Dame Will Be Back In The NCAA Tournament
Injuries killed Notre Dame last year, as when that trio was healthy the Irish beat Purdue and Illinois. They get back guards Rex Pfluger, TJ Gibbs, and big man John Mooney. The big question is how much have the role players around that trio have improved. If Notre Dame can get players to step up around Pfluger, Gibbs and Mooney, look for them to win at least 20 games this season.
Wake Forest Has Another Lackluster Season: Which Causes Head Coach Danny Manning Get Fired
The Danny Manning era has been a rocky one for Wake Forest. As Danny Manning has a record of 65-93 record, a 24-66 conference record, and only one NCAA Tournament appearance. And that one Tournament appearance could be considered a failure because of the fact they had future NBA lottery pick John Collins on that team. The fact is Wake Forest does not have the talent to compete in a loaded ACC Conference. Top scorer Brandon Childress returns, but outside of that, the talent drop off is obvious. Look for another bottom of the barrel season for Wake Forest.
North Carolina Will Be A Final Four Team
UNC lost a lot from last year, but they brought in a stellar recruiting class this year. This class is headlined by top five player Cole Anthony and includes elite talent like Armando Bacot and Anthony Harris. The Tar Heels also brought in transfers Justin Pierce and Christian Keeling, who should be very effective in the rotation. Harris and Anthony should form one of the best young guard duos in the country. I could see UNC be either a final four or an exit in the second round.
