ACC Power Rankings for Week 10, 2019
Again, again, and again. There is not an off-week with this conference when there aren’t about three games that go the way they shouldn’t. Part of me loves it, the other half doesn’t. However, this is the lovely field of play we get with ACC football. And did you know that there is still a way that the ACC Coastal ends up in a seven-way tie? I’m down for that.
ACC Atlantic
- Clemson Tigers (8-0, 6-0)
- Wake Forest Demon Deacons (6-1, 2-1)
- Louisville Cardinals (5-3, 3-2)
- Florida State Seminoles (4-4, 3-3)
- NC State Wolfpack (4-3, 1-2)
- Boston College Eagles (4-4, 2-3)
- Syracuse Orange (3-5, 0-4)
ACC Coastal
- Virginia Cavaliers (5-3, 3-2)
- Virginia Tech Hokies (5-2, 2-2)
- Pittsburgh Panthers (5-3, 2-2)
- North Carolina Tarheels (4-4, 3-2)
- Duke Blue Devils (4-4, 2-3)
- Miami Hurricanes (4-4, 2-3)
- Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (2-5, 1-3)
Thoughts on Atlantic
This is very much Clemson’s to lose, like it is every season. The Tigers have just been steamrolling through teams and showing the committee that they can compete at high levels. Wake Forest is showing they can spot off for a NY6 spot, which would place them in the Orange Bowl spot loaned to the ACC. Florida State and Louisville are in a league of their own in the middle of this division. Both can beat good teams, but still have their off weeks. And for the bottom of this division (Boston College, NC State, and Syracuse) I just don’t see two out of the three making a bowl game. For me, I would say Boston College would be missing out due to having to play Syracuse in the dome, FSU (who has been hot), and Notre Dame/Pittsburgh on the road.
Thoughts on Coastal
The two frontrunners in this division took a big fall with their given upsets. Virginia lost to the hands of Louisville in the rain. And the Pittsburgh Panthers lost their reigns to Miami, at home. However, North Carolina pulled off an impressive home win against rival Duke. This gives the Tarheels some motivation moving forward late in the season. Virginia Tech got off with a bye-week this past weekend before they go onto the road to face Notre Dame. Then we have the bottom of Miami and Georgia Tech. There is no way the Yellow Jackets make a bowl, but I am half-and-half on Miami. I’m not leaning towards them making a bowl, but something is telling me Manny Diaz will light a fire in his team.
