Teams on Upset Watch for Week 8
I love chaos in college football. I love seeing the fans go crazy about their team losing. I love seeing the fields being rushed by fans who sat in the cold for 3 hours for a win. To wrap it all up, let it rain upset blood this weekend and give us something to drool over.
Penn State Nittany Lions
This Michigan team just hasn’t been the same after that stomping they took to the hands of Wisconsin. Their offense has looked much better and the defense has taken a step up and created big plays for them to win ball games. And maybe this might be a long shot for the Wolverines, considering how their last two conference road games have looked. However, this is a Michigan team that can cause some havoc in the Big Ten and I won’t be the bit of surprised if it happens this weekend in Happy Valley.
Oregon Ducks
To put this quite simply: it is a PAC-12 football game. This is a conference that LOVES to have the opportunity to ruin any of their conference foe’s chances at reaching the College Football Playoff. In fact, this upset occurred last year, but it was the other way around. Washington needed a big win to push them back into the Top-10 and back into contention talks. The Oregon Ducks had other plans and moved the Huskies to two losses on the season and virtually eliminated them from reaching the playoff.
SMU Mustangs
I have liked seeing this SMU team on the come up these past few weeks, but every good thing must come to an end. I have watched the defense from SMU prevent them from winning games by a comfortable margin quite often. This is not a luxury the Mustangs can buy with Temple this weekend. Temples has played some hard defense on very solid offensive teams and gone on to beat them. I can easily see Temple getting some early defensive stops, with their offensive then capitalizing and pushing them ahead early.
Looks like the refs will be on Temple’s side too, per usual.
Baylor Bears
I watched this podcast. Nowhere in my mind do I believe that Baylor will escape Stillwater still unbeaten. It is just a thing in the Big 12, just like the PAC-12, that unbeaten teams never stay unbeaten for long. Baylor has got to just keep shooting on offense with the Cowboys to stay in the game. Oklahoma State will not be focusing their strong suit on their defense. This will be a shootout, and with shootouts at home I take Oklahoma State.
