Arkansas Basketball: This May Be The Best Razorbacks Recruiting Class Ever (Part one)
The Muss Bus has hit the recruiting trail at Arkansas, and they appear to be doing one heck of a job. As this article is being written, we are sitting in the middle of September, which means in less than two months from now we will be at the early signing period for division one college basketball. I am going to break down some of Arkansas Basketball’s top prospects for the 2020 class and who the Razorbacks may land.
Kyree Walker
If you follow Arkansas basketball recruiting you have probably heard this name before. Well, you better expect to hear it more because I believe Walker will be calling the hogs sooner, rather than later. Kyree is a 6-5, 205 lbs small forward out of Phoenix, Arizona (Hillcrest academy). Walker is expected to reclassify to the class of 2019, so we’d get him from December-March.
Walker’s rankings have fluctuated through different sites (ESPN, Rivals, 247Sports) over the years. Overall, he has been seen as a four star and five star while sitting inside the national top 50. Before Musselman made the move to Arkansas, Walker was seen as a big target by Nevada and 247sports actually had a crystal ball for him to go there. Well, the Muss Bus stayed on him and now Arkansas is looking like his top choice.
Walker confirmed on Tuesday that he will be making an official visit to Arkansas on the weekend of October 4-6, this is the same weekend Arkansas is having their red-white game. After the news broke about the visit hog fans started to speculate and realized that we had an actual chance with him, well what happened next threw Arkansas twitter into a frenzy.
What does the crystal ball say?
Jerry Meyer, 247Sports Director of Basketball Scouting, put in a crystal ball for Walker, and it was to Arkansas. Some people may not see this as a big deal but so far this year Meyer has been correct on 92% of his crystal ball predictions. Arkansas insider, Trey Biddy, also has a crystal ball casted for Walker to Arkansas on 247Sports. As of now it shows Walker is 50% to Arkansas, 25% Arizona and 25% Kansas. If you like to look at numbers in Arkansas favor lets move over to Rivals.com. Here it shows Kyree is 100% to Arkansas per the experts with two out of the four predictions coming in the last 24 hours. Once the hogs get him on campus, I believe that he is ours, this will be a fantastic pickup for Musselman and Co. if they can finish off the deal.
Moses Moody
Next up on the list is Moses Moody. Moses is a 4-5 star prospect playing at Montverde Academy in Florida by way of Little Rock, Arkansas. Moody is a 6-6, 185 lbs shooting guard who is one of the top players in the country. If you are from Arkansas you’ve probably heard about this kid for a long time, well now it is finally his time to choose where he wants to continue playing basketball.
Moody has been up and down in the rankings over the past few years. He’s seen himself in the top 20 at times, as of now ESPN has him as the 29th best player in his class. Moody, like Kyree, has also scheduled an official visit, this one on the weekend of October 18-20. While looking at predictions from multiple sites on where he may end up I have not found anything that convinces me that the hogs are his top choice. 247Sports has Moody at 33% Arkansas, 33% Oregon, and 33% undecided. The one crystal ball in Arkansas favor was casted in 2017 by 247Sports recruiting analyst Dylan Prezkop. In my opinion I think Arkansas will land him. I believe this because his family is still here in Arkansas and Musselman has made him a top priority and will not let him slip away.
