Teams on Upset Watch for Week 2
It is more than fair to say we might have gotten half a season’s worth of upsets only in the first week. However, BRING THEM ON! This is what us college football fans live for: the chaos of an upset. Whether it is against our team, or not, we can remember some great upsets. Now lets look into which teams might be the ones getting the boot this week:
Syracuse Orange
It wasn’t a terrific week for the Orange on Week 1, but it wasn’t a bad one either. Now this Syracuse team gets to travel to College Park, Maryland to take on the Maryland Terrapins who dethroned the Howard Bison 79-0. Yes, that is correct, the Maryland team we have known for a while now beat a team by 79 points. This might be an ugly week for the Orange if they can’t get their offense going.
Nebraska Cornhuskers
Beating South Alabama 35-21 in your opening week of this extremely hyped up season isn’t what we call a strong start. The Cornhuskers will now have to travel to enemy territory and take on once yearly foe, Colorado. And with a line of -4.0 for Nebraska, it is showing that no one is truly confident yet in Nebraska.
LSU Tigers
I know, I know, it technically isn’t an upset. However, an upset is just a higher ranked team losing to a lower ranked team. So therefore, if the Longhorns of Texas take down the LSU Tigers, it would be considered an upset. I shouldn’t have to say too much about this game, as it will be a close one that can end up either way.
Boise State Broncos
Many are calling for the head of the this Boise State team, and for what reason? Not too sure either, however the Broncos get to host the Marshall Thundering Herd who soundly defeated VMI 56-17 last week. This Boise State team wasn’t looking too hot during stretches of their game against Florida State. For Boise, this means fix your mistakes quick and prepare for a tough team in Marshall.
BYU Cougars
I wasn’t sure if to call it an upset on Tennessee or BYU, but only one of these teams didn’t lose to a Sun Belt team. And as bad as that Tennessee loss was, I don’t believe it will define their season. This is still a strong team that hit a bad hiccup on their opening week. I expect Tennessee to pull it together for a win.
