Georgia Bulldogs Week One: Recap and Predictions
How did the Bulldogs perform against Vandy?
Overall, Georgia performance Saturday was solid. Unfortunately, the Bulldogs definitely have stuff to fix as far as mental mistakes and penalties. The Bulldogs racked up 10 penalties costing them 117 yards. The defense was able to prevent Vanderbilt from scoring any touchdowns and only allowed 225 offensive yards. The front seven of Georgia’s defense had a good game. Monty Rice, junior inside linebacker, and Mark Webb, junior defensive back, tied for at seven total tackles.
On the other side of the ball, the offense was able to put 30 up on the board. The Bulldogs came out strong and put up points early. This energy didn’t last however, as they didn’t score a touchdown in the second half. A question that has arisen in my mind multiple times is: How would this young receiver core perform? That question was answered Saturday as they combined for 156 yards, but we will see how they perform against a top-tier defense. D’Andre Swift was also impressive as he rushed for an average of 9.3 yard per carry. If Georgia gives him the ball more, he could be a Heisman hopeful by the end of the year.
What will we expect to see against Murray State on Saturday?
The Georgia Bulldogs return to Athens for their first home game of the season Saturday against the Murray State Racers. I expect the stadium to be filled to capacity as fans cheer the Bulldogs on. Prediction? The Bulldogs will steamroll Murray State. Final score: 45-3. I’m confident that the Bulldogs are going to come out firing. The Bulldogs are going to be able to stop the run with ease. The offense is easily going to run all over Murray State. I also expect at least two touchdowns from Swift.
The Dawg Walk will take place at 1:45 pm in the same location as always before Georgia lines it up between the hashes. Sanford Stadium field will be dedicated to the legendary Vince Dooley before the game, so make sure to show up early.
