ACC Power Rankings for Week 2, 2019
The ACC gave us some great surprises in this first week of college football. And although not every team won, each team showed us some promise for their team’s future and for this season.
ACC Atlantic:
- Clemson Tigers (1-0, 1-0)
- Syracuse Orange (1-0, 0-0)
- NC State Wolfpack (1-0, 0-0)
- Wake Forest Demon Deacons (1-0, 0-0)
- Florida State Seminoles (0-1, 0-0)
- Boston College Eagles (1-0, 1-0)
- Louisville Cardinals (0-1, 0-0)
ACC Coastal:
- Virginia Cavaliers (1-0, 1-0)
- North Carolina Tarheels (1-0, 0-0)
- Miami Hurricanes (0-1, 0-0)
- Virginia Tech (0-1, 0-0)
- Pittsburgh Panthers (0-1, 0-0)
- Duke Blue Devils (0-1, 0-0)
- Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (0-1, 0-0)
Thoughts on the Atlantic:
Clemson obviously will sit on top of this for a while. They always show us why the are in the playoffs year in and year out. Also, even though Florida State lost, I was still impressed with the jump they have seemed to make from last year. Maybe just be better “hydrated” for the next game.
Plus, Louisville didn’t look like absolute garbage against the Fighting Irish. But I am still sure fans aren’t knowing if this is another year of disappointment lining up for the Irish, or if Louisville is actually decent.
Thoughts on the Coastal:
Once again we are given what everyone seems to tell us about the Coastal division: garbage. Don’t get me wrong, I love the ACC and have ever since I was a kid, but this was not a great showing. Both Pittsburgh and Virginia Tech got destroyed by their counterpart on the field when it came to crunch time.
The only team I will give surprising praises to is North Carolina. I don’t think many people expected this game to go the way it did. However this Mack Brown North Carolina team is looking better branding for a Coastal title run soon.
