Stock Up Stock Down Post Week One
Houston takes on Oklahoma tonight and ND takes on Louisville tomorrow, but week 1 is basically in the books. Here’s whats trending up/down after week 1.
Stock Up: Big 12
Assuming Oklahoma (-23.5) can take down Houston tonight, the Big 12 will be 10-0 heading into week 2. The Big 12 is set up so week 1 is usually a fluff-ball opponent, but still. Outside of ISU who got taken to 3OT against Northern Iowa Big 12 teams overachieved in basically every game.
Stock Down: Tennessee
It’s week 1 in Knockville TN. You and your family are about to head to the tailgates for some football. 85,5000 people in attendance. Tennessee is the 24.5 point favorite and looking to compete in the SEC. Flash forward 4 hours, you’re balls deep in a quart of ice cream drowning their sorrows. I didn’t have Tennessee winning more that 6-7 games this season, but this was a massive surprise.
Stock Up: Jonathan Taylor
Jonathan Taylor has been the best RB in college football for a while, but this game was absurd. 135 Yards (8.4 AVG) on the ground and 2 TDs to go along with 48 yards receiving and 2 TDs. That is absurd. He was floating around 5th on most heisman rankings before this game but a case can be made for him at No. 1 now.
Stock Down: Trevor Lawrence
Clemson beat Georgia Tech 52-14, but realistically they could have still won with me at QB1. 168 Yards and 2 INTs isn’t great from someone who is largely considered to be the best QB prospect ever. He’ll bounce back, but his margin of error for heisman is basically non-existent now.
