Jarren Williams Named Miami’s Starting QB Over Tate Martell
In the next few days teams are going to start naming starting QBs. Every year there are a few surprises. Miami just dropped a pretty big one.
Tate Martell transfered from Ohio State this offseason looking for a starting gig and is know as one of the more entertaining players in CFB. It was announced today that projected backup Jarren Williams will get the start week 0 vs. Florida. Hand up, I had no idea who this guy was. Looked into him a bit and he was actually the 5th Ranked Dual Threat QB in the 2018 class. Dude only has 1 career pass attempt, but here are some highlights from the Army Bowl.
Source – “All three guys showed tremendous improvement and development, which is a credit to their hard work and the work of Dan Enos and his offensive staff,” Miami coach Manny Diaz said in a statement. “We believe we can win with all three guys, however, we feel like Jarren has the greatest upside due to his passing ability, his instincts and his determination.
It’ll be interesting to see whether or not Martell sticks around if Williams performs well. RIP to anyone who had money on Martell for the Heisman Futures.
