Most Overhyped CFB Teams Coming Into 2019
With the start of the college football season being less than three weeks away, lets look into teams that are very overhyped heading into the 2019.
Virginia Cavaliers
There have been predictions that this UVA could be in a NY6 bowl game and I am here to say that is very farfetched. This team is still not better than other top ACC competitors in Virginia Tech and Miami. The Cavaliers also lost top RB in Jordan Ellis and top WR Olamide Zaccheaus. So saying that they can win the division is very unlikely. UVA will at best win 7 games this season.
UCF Knights
This UCF team had a great season last year going 12-1 and went to there second consecutive NY6 bowl game. Many experts predict a similar 2019-2020 season which seems unlikely. The Knights will be without star QB McKenzie Milton and will be looking for Notre Dame transfer Brandon Wimbush to take over at the helm. Wimbush is much more of a game manger and not a elite college QB like Milton. Before being benched last year also Wimbush had a three interception game against Ball State. Defense is also a big question mark for UCF as they have some holes. They could still be good, but not as good as they have the last two seasons.
Penn State Nittany Lions
PSU has relied heavily on their offense the past two seasons. 2019 could be a lot different as the Nittany Lions are very young on both sides of the ball. They have to replace Tracy McSorley , 1,000 yard rusher Miles Sanders, and most of the receiving core. The Big Ten isn’t going to get any easier up top and without a game-changing offense its often difficult to even sniff a 10 win season.
Nebraska Cornhuskers
Predictions for the Cornhuskers have been all over the place. This Nebraska team could go 6-6 at best. Now before you go crazy reading this hear me out. Nebraska lost there top RB in Devine Ozibgo and top WR Stanley Morgan Jr. They will have to rely on a defense that allowed 31 points a game last year. People also need to give Scott Frost time, it is very unrealistic for a team that won four games the year before to go ahead and compete to be in the Big Ten title game.
Florida State Seminoles
FSU’s offensive line play wrecked there whole season in 2018. Don’t expect any of that to change in 2019. Yes, the Seminoles recruit very well but have not been able to mesh at all in the last two years and have very little established talent. Willie Taggart has never won more than seven games at a power 5 school. How could that change in 2019? I see FSU going 6-6 at best.
