Dedric Lawson NBA Scouting Report and Pro Comparison
Measurables:
- Age: 21
- Height: 6’8.5″
- Wingspan: 7’2.25″
- Weight: 230 LBs
Strengths:
Good size for a small ball 4 at 6’8″ with a 7’2″ wingspan.
One of the best shooting Forwards in the class (39.3 3PT% and 81.5 FT%).
Good footwork in the post. Uses pump fakes well.
Great rebounder. Uses size and length well.
Gets steals and blocks at a decent rate (1.1 BPG 1.3 SPG).
Weaknesses:
Tested terribly at the athletic portions of the NBA combine.
Will struggle to guard quicker players at the NBA level. May be forced to play PF.
Handles aren’t great. Can only really create offense from the post.
NBA Comparison:
Dario Saric
Versatile offensive games and good size make them a tough cover. On the other side of the ball, they struggle to guard smaller players and are often targeted on switches. Good rebounders and decent playmakers from the post.
Draft Outlook:
Early-Mid Second Round
Ideal Fits:
Philadelphia at 33, 34, or 42:
Philly could use Lawson’s scoring and rebounding off the bench. Embiid would cover some of Lawson’s defensive shortcomings when they share the frontcourt and Lawson’s corner 3 could open up lanes for Simmons.
Chicago at 38:
Bulls have a good young core, but need some talent off the bench. Lawson can provide a good scoring punch as well as a floor spacer for a weak 2nd unit.
