Jaylen Hoard NBA Scouting Report and Pro Comparison
Measurables:
- Age: 20
- Height: 6’9″
- Wingspan: 7’0.75″
- Weight: 212 LBS
Strengths:
Ideal size for a NBA 3/4.
Age. Just turned 20 in March.
Has natural playmaking ability. Decent handles for size.
Very good athlete.
Uses his size well on the boards. 7.6 RPG in 30 MPG.
Weaknesses:
Can’t shoot from beyond the arc (22.6 3PT%). Below average from the line (71.6 FT%).
Very turnover prone for amount he handles the ball.
Couldn’t really create his own offense despite being the most talented player on his team. Had to rely on cuts and screens.
Defense could be a plus, but its far from NBA ready.
NBA Comparison:
Rookie Season Kevin Knox
Solid scorers who use their size and athleticism to get to the basket and create easy looks. Have tools to be good defenders, but haven’t really put it all together. Above average rebounders.
Draft Outlook:
Mid Second Round – Undrafted.
Ideal Fits:
Atlanta at 44:
Hoard is a young and moldable combo forward who can play meaningful minutes right away and develop rather than ride pine on a playoff team. Surrounded by shooters, he can play out out the high post.
Charlotte Hornets at 52:
If Kemba leaves, the Hornets have like no real building blocks. Monk and Bridges have potential, but they haven’t shown enough to be guarantees. Getting a 20 year old with size and athleticism at 52 would be a huge pickup for a team likely to have a Top 5 pick next season.
Sacramento at 47 or 60:
Sacramento has very little talent off the bench at the forward slots. Hoard could play right away and benefit from one of the best passers in the game in DeAron Fox.
