Elite 2019 CB Chris Steele Transfers to Oregon
Former Florida CB (Kinda) Chris Steele announced today that he will transfer to Oregon. 247 Sports has Steele ranked as the No. 5 CB and the No. 42 prospect overall. He will join a defensive recruiting class that already boasts elite prospects in No. 2 Player DE Kayvon Thibodeaux and No. 4 CB Mykael Wright who will both likely be immediate contributors at some level.
Steele reportedly requested to switch rooms due to his roommate being accused of sexual assault. Florida said no, and Steele entered the transfer portal soon after. Massive pickup for an Oregon team that is looking to make a push for the CFB Playoffs.
It is assumed that he will be eligible immediately, but not confirmed.
Lean but strong frame with plenty of room to fill out. Carries 190 pounds with ease and should play at 210 pounds at the college level without losing any of his athleticism. A very physical press corner who plays with an edge to his game. Will bully opposing receivers at the line of scrimmage and shows the speed to turn and run with an athletic receiver as well. Strong in run support and will lay out an opposing receiver or running back. A highly intelligent player who could grow in to a safety in college because of his football IQ, frame and physicality. Tremendous work ethic off the field and driven to be not just good but a great player. Can improve his hips, change of direction and ball skills but should play early at the college level. Impact upper tier Power 5 starter and future NFL draft pick.
