How Purdue is Remembering Tyler Trent
If you go to Purdue games during the fall, you may have entered Ross-Ade Stadium through Gate E. However, as of next season, the former Gate E will now be Gate T2. This new gate, Gate T2, stands for the Tyler Trent Student Gate, which will stand as a memorial for the remembrance of what Tyler Trent did for the program and the university alike.
Trent had passed away in January, on the first day of the year, with rare form of bone cancer called Osteosarcoma. This led to the longed deterioration of his bones and body, which away most of Tyler’s basic liberties. After his death, both the fans and the university wanted to commemorate Tyler Trent for all he had done for Purdue. The decision for a gate was found by the school’s president, Mitch Daniels.
Also, in commemoration for Trent, the university has started a scholarship in his legacy named: Tyler Trent Courage and Resilience Award. It is safe to say that Trent not only made an impact on Purdue, but the whole of us as college football fans. Tyler Trent stood as a symbol of courage, hope, and bravery that we had never seen before of his stature. He will be longed missed by us all and his legacy will remain ever cemented at Gate T2.
