Updated Odds to Win 2019 Final Four Most Outstanding Player Released
Duke leads the pack with Zion and RJ followed by Gonzaga, Virginia, and UNC players with Winston sandwiched in the middle. Since 1984 every winner of this award has won the NCAA Championship (Hakeem) so you should be slapping your bets on whoever you got winning it all.
Only 1 Big Man (Anthony Davis) has won Final Four MOP in the past 10 years. Its really really guard heavy. CBB is all about guards. More specifically, guards who can light a team up from beyond the arc.
Odds I like:
Corey Davis Jr. G Houston 40/1
Houston is rolling and Davis Jr. has scored 47 in two absolute blowouts. Will Houston win it all? Probably not. But if they do, Davis will almost certainly win MOP. 40/1 Odds on a red hot 33-3 Houston team taking home the natty? I’ll take that.
Coby White G UNC 12/1
UNC’s offense has been unstoppable at times this season and when White is hot, this team is tough to beat. Cam Johnson and Luke Maye both play a huge role on this team but White is capable of dropping 25-5-5 on a nightly basis.
Brandon Clarke F/C Gonzaga 10/1
I know guards always win this award, but Clarke has arguably been the best player in the tourney to this point to the tone of 24 PPG 8 RPG and 4 BPG. His defensive ability could separate him from Rui Hachimura if Gonzaga ends up winning it all.
Odds I hate:
Nick Ward F Michigan State 20/1
C’mon man. Ward is a good big man who does all the little things, but 20/1? No chance. Dude is averaging 8.5 PPG and 6 RPG with NO Assists, Blocks, or Steals. C’mon man.
Tyler Herro G Kentucky 33/1
PJ Washington is in a boot and Kentucky has a tough schedule with Houston and either Auburn or UNC coming up before they even reach the Final Four. Thats tough. Herro is a great player and potential Top 20 pick, just don’t think he can be the best player on a Championship team.
Jordan Poole G Michigan 33/1
Michigan’s best players in order: Brazdekis, Simpson, Teske, Poole, Matthews. Super balanced team. I wouldn’t take any of these guys at 33/1 and Poole is arguably the worst on the list.
