2019 Big East Tournament Championship: Preview and Prediction
It’s all led to this. The Big East has come to its grand finale: the championship game. This year, Seton Hall and Villanova will be squaring off to take home the hardware. Both teams had a wild path getting here, with Villanova squeaking out an overtime win over Xavier, while Seton Hall won a match against Marquette that saw three ejections and eight technical fouls assessed. There will be a buzz of energy in MSG tonight. But who will be able to capitalize off of this energy?
Who: No. 3 Seton Hall vs. No. 1 Villanova
When: Saturday, March 16 at 6:35 PM ET
Where: Madison Square Garden- New York, NY
Watch: Fox Sports 1
Preview: The Pirates are playing red hot basketball right now. They will enter this contest coming off of a physical, altercation-filled slugfest with 2-seeded Marquette. Just as SHU, Villanova is also coming off of a two point win on Friday. However, Seton Hall played in the late-night time slot, with the game ending around midnight. Pirates guard Myles Powell shined with 22 points, with Quincy McKnight stepping up to score roughly double his season average. Villanova relied on Phil Booth when it came to scoring, dropping 28 on a feisty Musketeers team. With the way Seton Hall is playing, the Wildcats are going to need more all-around contribution in order to win the 2019 Big East Tournament championship.
Prediction: Seton Hall defeats Villanova 74-69
