SEC Tournament: Day 3 Preview and Predictions
As day 2 of the SEC Tournament concludes, four teams made it on to day 3. Auburn moved on with a win over Missouri. Florida got a very nice win over Arkansas. Alabama also got a win over Ole Miss to help their odds to make the NCAA Tournament. While Mississippi State picked up an easy win over Texas A&M.
Flordia(18-14)(9-9 Conf.) vs LSU(26-5)(16-2 Conf.)
If Florida wins this game it almost guarantees them a birth in the NCAA Tourney and that should put LSU on upset alert. I don’t think LSU will be prepared for this game,as head coach Will Wade is suspended indefinitely over a cheating scandal. LSU will also be affected by a poor defense and will be slowed down on offense by a very good Florida defense. LSU will not be prepared or ready for a hungry Florida team and will get upset in this game. Tigers: 70 Gators: 75
Auburn(23-9)(11-7 Conf.) vs South Carolina(16-15)(11-7 Conf.)
Auburn had a great offensive performance against Missouri, shooting 45% from the field. I think that the Tigers can do that again against South Carolina. As the Gamecocks have one of the worse defenses in college basketball allowing 72 points a game. While Auburn has a very good offense averaging 80 points a game. This game will be dominated by Auburn and the Tigers will pick up a easy win against South Carolina. Gamecocks: 68 Tigers: 83
Alabama(18-14)(8-10 Conf.) vs Kentucky(26-5)(15-3 Conf.)
This game is a must win for Alabama if they want make the NCAA Tournament. That means the Crimson Tide will come out with great intensity in this game. That still won’t be enough for them to come out with a win over Kentucky. Kentucky is just too good on both sides of the ball. Kentucky averages 76 points game and only allows 65 points a game on defense. Alabama will put up a good fight but the talent disparity between the two teams will show. Crimson Tide: 70 Wildcats: 80
Mississippi State(22-9)(10-8 Conf.) vs Tennessee(27-4)(15-3 Conf.)
Tennessee is very good on both sides of the floor. The Volunteers average 82 points a game and only allow 67 points a game. While Mississippi State is very poor on the defensive side of the ball allowing 70 points a game. This is something Tennessee should definitely be able to take advantage of. As Tennessee scored 71 points on the Bulldogs during their meeting in the regular season. I expect this matchup to go the same way it did the regular season. Volunteers: 80 Bulldogs: 65
