SEC Tournament: Day 2 Preview and Predictions
After Day 1 of the SEC Tournament, both teams with higher seeds prevailed. Missouri beat Georgia by 10 points in a comfortable win. While Texas A&M demolished Vanderbilt and beat them by 17 points.
Arkansas(17-14)(8-10 Conf.) vs Flordia(17-14( 9-9 Conf.)
Both teams play way different styles of basketball. Arkansas relies more heavily on offense, while Florida relies more heavily on defense. That’s why I am taking Florida to win this game. Florida gives up 63 points a game and in their only matchup this season, Florida held Arkansas to 53 points. This will be a low scoring grind it out game, which will play right into Florida’s hands. Gators: 65 Razorbacks: 58
Missouri(15-16)(5-13 Conf.) vs Auburn(22-9)(11-7 Conf.)
This game should be an easy win for Auburn. The Tigers are very good on both sides of the ball. The Tigers average 80 points a game and only allow 68 points a game. With Auburn’s great defensive play they, should be able to take advantage of a poor Missouri offense that only averages 66 points a game. Missouri will stand no chance in this game and will be blown out by a very well rounded Auburn team. Tigers(AU): 80 Tigers(Miss.): 62
Alabama(17-14)(8-10 Conf.) vs Ole Miss(20-11)(10-8 Conf.)
This game is a must win for Alabama if they want to get in the NCAA Tournament. In these teams first meeting during the regular season, Alabama won by rebounding the ball more effectively than Ole Miss. They are going to have to this again in this game. As Alabama has a very bad defense that allows 71 points a game and relies heavily on their offense. I think that Alabama will know what’s at stake here and wins in a very close game. Crimson Tide: 78 Rebels: 74
Texas A&M(14-17)(6-12 Conf.) vs Mississippi State(22-9)(10-8 Conf.)
Mississippi State has a very poor defense, but it will not matter in this game. Texas A&M has a very bad offense, the Aggies only average 70 points a game and has a very bad defense that allows 71 points a game. This is something the Bulldogs should be able to take advantage of. The Bulldogs have a very potent offense averaging 77 points a game. Texas A&M will fight hard in this game but, the offensive power of Mississippi State will be too much. Bulldogs: 80 Aggies:72
