Michigan Takes on Michigan State in Battle For Big Ten Regular Season Title
After an upset last weekend to Indiana, Michigan State(24-6)(15-4 Conf.) bounced back nicely with an emphatic win over Nebraska. While Michiga(26-4)(15-4 Conf.) is coming back off a very good win over Maryland and looks to win at least a share of the Big Ten regular season championship.
How Michigan Could Win:
The Wolverines have one of the best defenses in the nation only allowing 58 points a game, which is third in the nation. This is a game that Michigan’s defense must show up as in most of Michigan State’s losses they have lost the turnover battle. The Wolverines also can not allow the Spartans to shoot as well in they did in their last meeting as Michigan State shot 50% from the field. If Michigan is gonna win this game it will come down to defense.
How Michigan State Could Win:
One thing that stands out with Michigan is this team has a below average offense. The Wolverines only average 70 points a game this season. This should be something Michigan State can take advantage of. As Michigan State has a very good defense in their own right only allowing 66 points a game this season. Just like Michigan if the Spartans want to win this game it will come down to how well they play on the defensive end.
Players to Watch:
For Michigan sophomore Jordan Poole has played really well this season. Poole averages 12 points, three rebounds, and two assists while shooting 45% from the field.
For Michigan State Cassius Winston has had a great season for the Spartans. The Junior has averaged 18 points, three rebounds, and seven assists while shooting 47% from the field.
Score Predictions:
I think Michigan will be looking for revenge in this game against their rival. The Wolverines will play a lot better on the defensive end and stifle a very good Michigan State offense in a very close game. Spartans: 70 Wolverines: 75
