Wednesday’s Slate Predictions and Picks
Wednesday night is packed with some Top-25 action, so in spite of that we are going to run through the games for tonight and pick who will come out on top. There are some very important matchups and some that should be very one-sided.
Rutgers (12-13) at # 10 Michigan State (21-5)
I think it proves to be very hard to pick against the Spartans at this stage in the season. They have their eyes set on March and getting a high seed. Also, the Spartan’s offense should be too much to handle for Rutgers. This one will be a comfortable game for Spartan’s fan to watch. Michigan State 78, Rutgers 61
#17 Villanova (20-6) at Georgetown (15-10)
With this one, both teams have lost their footing as of recent games. However, Villanova has more to play for in terms of a season and they have matched up with some harder teams recently. I think Georgetown will look like there going to pull off a home stunner, but lose their chance with not enough rebounding. Villanova 73, Georgetown 67
Florida (14-11) at #13 LSU (21-4)
As of recently, this Florida team has been looking good against their conference counterparts. And LSU has had some statement wins against the liking of Kentucky and Auburn. I think if this game was in the Swamp, that the Gators could get the upset, but Tremont Waters and the fans will be too much to handle. LSU 78, Florida 71
#18 Louisville (18-8) at Syracuse (17-8)
Louisville just has more room to work with in this game. Yes, they’ve dropped two of their last three, but those were against Duke and Florida State. The Cardinals haven’t been playing their best brand of basketball and neither have the Orange. However, the Cardinals will get it done tonight in the Dome. Louisville 73, Syracuse 66
#8 North Carolina (20-5) at #1 Duke (23-2)
I hate to keep these super short, but lets do some math. Duke at home wins by an average of 25.7 points. And for North Carolina, their win margin sits at 13.4 points on the road. This should be interesting, but it won’t be. Duke 83, North Carolina 75
Butler (15-11) at #11 Marquette (21-4)
Why isn’t the line for this game any higher? Last time these two squared off it was at Butler and the Golden Eagles won by eighteen. I think this Marquette squad gets another imposing win and shows they should be a high seed in March. Marquette 80, Butler 66
#6 Nevada (24-1) at San Diego State (16-9)
The Wolfpack will get it done again in dominating fashion and will continue to fly under the radar for sports analysts. I think this game should be getting more hype though, as both teams have been playing great as of recently. Look for a competitive game early on. Nevada 89, SDSU 73
