Grading 2019 College Football Early Signing Classes: SEC
The SEC has been known for is large and great recruiting classes for the past two decades. he often go to war for the top athletes each year and it shows. Let us look into each class and how they fair for their school.
SEC East Division
Florida:
This definitely wasn’t the big time class that the Gators and their fans wanted, but it is good. There is enough being brought in for the offensive linemen and defensive linemen that is steers the future to have a strong structure. Overall it wasn’t a failure, but could have gone for more. Class Grade: B
Georgia:
Once again we get a superb class out of Athens. This program has found was to work around its problems and it is truly showing with this year’s early signing class. Justin Fields is on his way out, but in spite of that Dwan Mathis. Also, a bunch of great players on the defensive line should help out on defense. Class Grade: A
Kentucky:
This class was filled with a lot of Kentucky locals in the area that should build on their base. Most of these recruits are wanted for a wildcat and multiple schemes. This was just what the Wildcats were expected to get and nothing really stood out. Class Grade: B-
Missouri:
This class gave us a real feel that Missouri is trying to press all on their offense. They bring in Kelly Bryant from Clemson and are placing great, young receivers around him. Overall this was a lesser class overall, but the offensive side saves them a bit. Class Grade: B-
South Carolina:
The Gamecocks class gives us a lot in terms of depth. They bring in new QB Ryan Hilinski that should be a great offensive leader for years to come. This was a nice, solid class for South Carolina, but nothing to make us think they’re winning the SEC. Class Grade: B
Tennessee:
In this class for the Volunteers, we see a lot being brought in on the line. this can be taken as bulky offensive linemen to help protect either Guarantano and McBride or these sizable defensive linemen to dominate the line. Whether you liked what Tennessee did here, it was solid for them. Class Grade: B
Vanderbilt:
This Commodore program will continue to struggle in the Tennessee are until they solve their winning problems. They managed to bring in some food skill position players, but they aren’t at the caliber to make a huge difference. For Vanderbilt, this was a decent class and not one to change their issues. Class Grade: C
SEC West Division
Alabama:
I am not going to ramble on about this class. It is the same story we hear every year on how Saban and the Tide pull in whoever they want. This is a great class with tons of talent, but did we expect more. Class Grade: A+
Arkansas:
For the first time in a long time, the Razorback have a great class to work around into their future. This class gave Arkansas a lot of great players in key positions on both sides of the ball. A great surprise for the fans down in Fayetteville. Class Grade: B+
Auburn:
The 2019 class out of Auburn didn’t give us too much to look at. It did bring in necessary pieces at positions they needed, but not enough to call it a big-time class. This class was right at enough for the Tigers and their fans, more are sure to come their way in the spring. Class Grade: B
LSU:
The Tigers got in at every position they wanted and needed. Their impressive knack for finding the best corners and safeties around is uncanny. This class is sure to develop into a competing one right away in Baton Rouge. Class Grade: A-
Ole Miss:
I feel this was more so a push to get as much talent in and sift through it. Not a bad move by Ole Miss, however, they bring in everything they needed offensively. The only thing that hurts them is the defensive line but other than that they did a good job. Class Grade: B
Mississippi State:
Compared to their counterpart in the same state, I would say the did a good job. The Bulldogs really emphasized on not letting certain positions get to shallow at any point. Also, they bringing some really great players on the offense to give it a spark again. Class Grade: B
Texas A&M:
This class competes with some of the higher ones in the SEC like Georgia and Alabama. The Aggies know how to constantly bring in players, not only at the skill spots, but for the infrastructure too. Overall, this was a great effort and a great class to play at Kyle in the future. Class Grade: A
