Predicting the Winner of every Week 2 FBS Bowl Game
Record 177-53 (77%)
Solid 7-3 last week in bowl games that we’re all pretty close talent wise (on paper). Games are getting a bit better now in week 2 after what was a very unspectacular lineup to kick off bowl season. Let’s nail these picks.
16 WVU Vs. 20 Syracuse
A few weeks ago, the line was WVU -8.5, then Grier, Cajuste, and Jennings announced that they’d be sitting. The line is now Even. WVU still has the talent to win this game, but Eric Dungey should be too much for the mountaineer’s offense. Keep an eye out for former 4-star Miami transfer Jack Allison who has reportedly been tearing it up in practice.
Syracuse 41-38
24 Iowa State Vs. 13 Washington State
I don’t care if Tom Brady walks on to ISU, if you only beat FCS team Drake by just 3 you are not getting picked in my pickem. Sorry.
Washington State 32-18
Memphis Vs. Wake Forest
Darrell Henderson is sitting out for Memphis making this game much more interesting. He is one of the most talented players in the country and the catalyst of this Memphis offense. This is going to be a shoutout and Wake Forrest’s defense has just been better the past few weeks so I think Wake gets the mini upset and ends the season with a win.
Wake Forrest 42-31
Houston Vs. Army
Do you like America? I do. King is out, Oliver basically checked out around week 5, and Army has been great with losses only to Duke and Oklahoma. A 5.5 point spread here seems criminally low, but Army has had some tight wins of late so it’s understandable.
Army 27-20
Buffalo Vs. Troy
Two of the best Group-Of-Five teams in the nation square off in what looks to be a pretty evenly matched game. If you haven’t seen Tyree Jackson play yet tune in. 6’7” athletic player with a really solid arm. Troy should win this one, but it will be close.
Troy 26-25
Hawaii Vs. Louisiana Tech
Hawaii’s defense looks like it doesn’t know what sport its playing at times, but they can light a team up for 40-50 points every game. They’ll squeak by in a high scoring game in Honolulu. Take the Over.
Hawaii 48-37
Boston College Vs. 25 Boise State
Boise State lost their last game in OT, but I love this team of late. Their defense is legit and they have one of the most underrated QBs in the country in Brett Rypien. BC has a ton of talent but has struggled of late. Boise wins this one.
Boise State 24-16
Minnesota Vs. Georgia Tech
Georgia Tech HC Paul Johnson will finish up his coaching career in the Quick Lane Bowl. What a way to go out. The triple option wins games. Its ugly. It’s not fun to watch. I think GT fans are psychopaths for paying human money to attend those games, but it wins.
GT 38-28
California Vs. TCU
Is that a typo? TCU made a bowl game? Wild. They capped the season with a huge win over Oklahoma State, but I think that was a fluke. Cal isn’t exactly the 85 Bears, but this is a solid team that should take care of business.
California 25-17
Temple Vs. Duke
Duke got MURDERED 59-7 against Wake Forrest last game. They were at Duke. This Temple team would have probably gotten a better bowl if not for an embarrising loss to Villanova week 1. Duke has a ton of talent, but Temple has just been playing great football since week 3.
Temple 27-23
Miami Vs. Wisconsin
I had Wisconsin in my preseason playoff teams, and now they’re playing 7-5 Miami in the “New Era Pinstripe bowl’. That is a ridiculous dropoff. Backup QB Jack Coan will be starting for Wisconsin and if he is below Hornibrook on the depth chart then Wisconsin is in trouble. Miami’s defense will win this game.
Miami 24-13
Baylor Vs. Vanderbilt
Okay so TCU made a bowl game and I have come to peace with that. Baylor? Vanderbilt? Did they win any games this season? Did they even play in any games? That’s wild. Vanderbilt has won 3 of their last 4 games in the SEC which is actually pretty impressive.
Vanderbilt 31-25
Purdue Vs. Auburn
Auburn has had a wildly disappointing season. Beating No 6 Washington week 1, then not really doing much else. Pegged by many as the 3rdbest team in the SEC, they finished with a 7-5 record with no other good wins besides Texas A&M. Purdue beat Ohio State and Iowa but lost to EMU. Makes no sense. Stidham will win his last college game and beat one hit wonder Purdue.
Auburn 35-24
