Urban Meyer to Retire After Rose Bowl
Ohio State Head Coach, Urban Meyer, is set to step down as the head coach after the teams trip to the Rose Bowl this year. To come fill the steps of Meyer is now Ohio State Offensive Coordinator, Ryan Day. This season, Day had filled in for Meyer during his suspension from the team earlier in the year.
Urban Meyer has went 82-9 (.901) as the Ohio State Head Coach in his seven year tenure at the school. In this stretch, Meyer had won 3 major bowls, including a national championship in 2014. Ryan Day is set to take on this major challenge as the new head coach. Day had moved the Buckeyes to 3-0 to start off the season. The Buckeye fans are not excited about Meyer’s retirement, but are comfortable with seeing Day’s familiar face leading the program.
Many are confused to why Meyer is retiring, but theories have arose. These range from his medical problems getting more and more in depth, the scandal holding the university this year, and maybe just done with coaching wanting to move on. Whether or not any of these are true, it is clear that college football is losing a great coach that built the hype for many years.
