Oklahoma Beats Texas 39-27; Wins Big 12 Championship
Oklahoma bested Texas 39-27 to win the Big 12 Championship.
The Sooners, led by Kyler Murray who threw 25/34 with 379 yards, and three touchdowns, outplayed the Longhorns to win the Big 12 Championship. While the Oklahoma offense played well, they did not steal the show as they usually do.
The Oklahoma defense played their best game since they held K-State to 14 in week 9, and held Texas to 27 points. The Sooner defense, unlike usual, was able to make 3rd down stops and prevented 5 Longhorn 1st downs. Some key defensive Oklahoma plays were Tre Brown’s safety, and Tre Norwood’s redzone interception, which both occurred within the last five minutes of the game.
Marquise (Hollywood) Brown was injured in the second half, and carted off the field, but came back to the sideline on crutches late in the 4th quarter (no word on his injury yet).
Sam Ehlinger threw for 350 yards and contributed 4 touchdowns, but it was not enough for a Texas win. The Longhorn defense did not play well, but they did contain Oklahoma more than the last time they played in October and held the Sooners to 6 fewer points than before. Penalties killed Texas, and even costed them a touchdown in the first half. Other than penalties, the Longhorns did not play badly, they were simply outplayed
