We are ending the near of the college football season and just started college basketball. This week’s group of questions have given us a nice blend of the two. Lets see what you, the fans, had to ask and what we think:
“Who is the best college QB to you?” – @zach_alan123
I all honesty, I like Tua Tagovailoa. Yes, the man plays on Alabama, but you cannot take away his ability of passing with such accuracy. He also, doesn’t play 4th quarters for the most part and imagine if he did. I like the great QB group we have this season, but it is obvious that Tua takes the cake by a mile. Also, Tua shows up in big stages, unlike my previous favorite, Gardner Minshew.
“Looking forward to bowl season?” – @henrykracke
I am looking forward to this season’s bowl season than any other bowl season I have ever endured. In fact, I like the bowl game matchups more than the College Football Playoff. I think we have a great group of teams this year in terms of competitiveness and we should have some classics, especially in the high-tier bowls (not NY6).
“If Ohio State would of made the Playoffs in 2015, would they have gone back-to-back?” – @david_reid04
Absolutely not. Oklahoma, who ended up getting the final spot, had ranked 7th in total offense to end that regular season. Ohio State, however, sat at 41st, which would have been ugly to watch. Clemson’s defense would have soundly handled that Ohio State offense, just like they had done in 2017. Sorry not sorry.
“Why is UCF not ranked higher?” – @brandonsocool006
First off, UCF has only played a ranked Cincinnati being their only ranked opponent all year: Michigan has played 5, Ohio State has played 4, and Oklahoma 2. When you look at the teams they had to play and the teams UCF has had to play, each of those teams would be undefeated with that schedule. I think UCF should even be satisfied that they have the ranking they have now. And then you ask, what’s the point of going undefeated? I think the Playoff should expand to 6, to be filled by an undefeated Group of 5 team.
“Playoff Spots for CFP?” – @kellen_monroe
First spot will go to Alabama with a victory over Georgia. Second Spot will be taken by a Clemson team with an ACC Championship title. Third Spot will be an undefeated Notre Dame team. And last spot will be taken by an Oklahoma team that has avenged their only loss on the season in the Big 12 Title Game. This is all my opinion, so don’t get upset.
“Will TCU football be any better next year?” – @tailgate.tcu
I think a game better, but the brand of football will go down a bit. TCU is losing 5 defensive starters and a couple of wide receivers. This has an impact on even the best of teams. Watch TCU to tighten up on those tight ball games, but they will decline in ability on defense, more so in the secondary.
“Can we get a Wahoo in that Red Cup All-American Lineup?” – @redcupuva
We might throw Bryce Hall a bone. That would be the only deserving player out of Virginia, but even that is a long shot. Try again next year.
“Is Kelly Bryant UNC bound?” – @jackson.rabon
I think he just might be and this comes at a scary time for all ACC teams. UNC has just hired one of the greatest coaches of all-time in college football and named him head coach. This would be Mack Brown, who worked with the likes of Vince Young and Colt McCoy. If Bryant has any sense and sees the NFL talent that has arose with Brown, then we will see his attendance very soon.
“Do you think Chip Kelly will be with UCLA again next season?” – @justinfootball08
I don’t believe one bad season would warrant anybody to be fired. This even coming on his very first year. Chip Kelly has shown that he can win wherever he goes, so don’t let an early bad season cause any disbelief in his ability.
“Who will win the National Championship in football and basketball?” – @the_awesome_hari_iyer
I believe we will see an Alabama football champion because they are playing a dominant brand of football that no one else can match. And for basketball, I am liking Kansas/Michigan/Gonzaga/Duke in that mix, but I would have to give it to Kansas.
“Who’s season will be the most positive in hindsight: Arizona State football or basketball?” – @peytongallaher
I think it will be football. I think Arizona State will actually win their bowl game this year and improve to 8-5. For the basketball team, I don’t see them getting to 20 wins. This because these wins they’re getting aren’t at the dominating level that will do in conference play. They will have some surprises in that mix, but nothing to call an “improvement”.
“Why isn’t UCF in the College Football Playoff?” – @sam_demuzio
They haven’t played enough quality opponents. Only can boast a ranked-win against Cincinnati team that anybody in the Top-10 would put into the ground. The playoff is just not big enough to accompany these Group of 5 teams that have no big wins. I believe an extension to 6 teams (like an NFL set up) would do this league some good.
