Highlights and Takeaways from WVU’s 92-78 Win Over Rider

Rider isn’t exactly a national championship contender, but this is a very good Mid-Major team. They returned nearly everyone from last season, and will likely have a shot at qualifying for the tourney. WVU did a great job on the boards without Konate and made sure this wasn’t another close game that we’ve seen so many of this young season.
Ahmad and West scored as usual putting up 16 and 20 respectively. Routt had his best game of the season and filled in well for Konate with 7 Points, 8 Rebounds, and some great interior defense. Harler and Matthews added 11 each in what was likely their best individual performances of the season. McCabe was the catalyst on offense with a career high 8 assists. He seems to be seeing the floor better as the season progresses.
In breaking news for my bank account, WVU finally covered. I didn’t think it was possible. They we’re 0-5 against the spread this season. 0-5. Thats not good. A 14 point win narrowly covered the 12 point spread and finally gave Mountaineer betters a win.
Overall great team against a potential tourney team. WVU looks to continue the 2 game win streak against Youngstown at home this Saturday.
