ACC Championship Preview: Clemson v. Pittsburgh
Clemson-Pittsburgh Series:
- Game will be held in Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina
- Game will start at 8:00 PM ET on 12/1
- Series is led by Pittsburgh 2-0
- Pittsburgh holds current win streak of 2
Offensive Players to Watch:
Clemson: This Pittsburgh team has given up too many rushing yards for Travis Etienne to not be a factor. Etienne averages 8 yards a rush on the season and will most likely leave the game with a higher average. To see what he has done to opposing defenses this season is a clear sign of what will happen to Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh gives up 174.3 rushing yards a game this season, this gives Etienne the edge.
Pittsburgh: Kenny Pickett hasn’t had the best season, but will need to bring out the guns for Pittsburgh battle against Clemson. Pickett has 1,825 passing yards passing this season and has tossed up 12 touchdowns within his range. Pittsburgh has been known as a rushing team this year, but with a Clemson team with a great rushing defense the Panthers will want to pass. Watch for Pickett to give a good performance against this Clemson defense.
Defensive Players to Watch:
Clemson: Kendall Joseph has been running the outside linebacker spot for the Clemson Tigers. With an ability to read the quarterback and lock down outside running/passing lanes, Joseph will be ready for whatever Pittsburgh throws at him this weekend. Joseph has amounted 71 total tackles, 5.5 tackles-for-loss, and 3.5 sacks. I think Clemson will have their way this weekend against Pittsburgh with Kendall Joseph running their linebacker core.
Pittsburgh: Has a sophomore, Rashad Weaver knows how to work his way around the edge. This young man has been giving new life to a Pittsburgh defense that has struggled in the past. Weaver has racked up 12.0 tackles-for-loss, and 44 total tackles as the Panther’s defensive end. Although he isn’t a senior, don’t think Weaver won’t give it his all to help secure the Pittsburgh Panther’s first ACC title.
The Basics:
Clemson is undefeated going into this game and will want to continue their winning ways to secure another Playoff appearance. Then we have Pittsburgh, who just dropped a game to Miami 24-3. This doesn’t help anybody’s hope of a potential Clemson upset. It is obvious to see that Clemson will own this game and it will remain one-side for most of the 60 minute tenure.
Score Prediction:
41-16 Clemson
