Top Candidates to Replace Paul Johnson at Georgia Tech
It was announced today that Paul Johnson would be stepping down from the heading coach job at Georgia Tech. This all came after a 7-5 finish for the Yellow Jackets that has earned them a trip to a bowl game. Johnson at the moment is 83-59 as the Georgia Tech Head Coach, which was great and just what the program needed.
Ken Whisenhunt, Los Angeles Chargers
For his run in the NFL, Whisenhunt has done phenomenal at every team has touched as an assistant coach. This ranges from the Ravens, Cardinals, and many other NFL teams that had built strong offense under his coaching. Whisenhunt also played college football at Georgia Tech and lived their growing up. Seeing a Whisenhunt coaching change to take the helm of this Georgia Tech program would be nothing unexpected and, in fact, might be the best bet.
Scott Satterfield, Appalachian State
Seeing that Appalachian State has done nothing but grow as a program under Sattefield is to say the least. As of now, Satterfield sits at (48-24) at Appalachian State as the head coach and will continue growing this record through wherever his career takes him. Satterfield, also, sits at (3-0) in bowls for Appalachian State, with a chance of (4-0) this season. This would be a smarter hire for Georgia Tech, since he was qualified enough for the North Carolina job.
Jeff Monken, Army
It is no shock that Georgia Tech loves to run their triple option attack. If they want to stay the course of this path, look no further than Army head coach, Jeff Monken. Monken sits at 71-44 all-time as a head coach, but more specifically he took a weak Army program to now consistently good. This wouldn’t be anything out-of-the-ordinary for a hire like this to occur.
