Potential Landing Spots for Former Texas Tech Coach Kliff Kingsbury
After a 5-7 season, Coach Kliff Kingsbury is reportedly out at Texas Tech. There should be a lot of options for Kingsbury as a offensive coordinator ranging from college to the NFL. Here are four potential landing spots for Kliff Kingsbury.
Arizona Wildcats:
Current Arizona head coach Kevin Sumlin gave Kingsbury his first chance as a offensive coordinator when they were both at Houston. Then Kingsbury followed Sumlin after he was named head coach at Texas A&M. In 2012 Kingsbury lead a Texas A&M offense that lead the SEC in rushing, passing, scoring and total offense in which Kingsbury also coached Heisman winner Johnny Manziel. Arizona has a very similar dual threat quarterback like Manziel in Khalil Tate. If Sumlin could get his former counterpart to come to Arizona, it could persuade Tate to stay one more year and could make a already deadly Arizona offense deadlier.
Kansas City Chiefs:
Their might not be no need for offensive coordinator change here as current OC Eric Bieniemy has done a great job with the Chiefs this year. The possibility of Kingsbury coming here depends on if Bieniemy gets a head coaching job with another NFL team, which is a very big possibility as former Chiefs offensive coordinators Doug Pederson and Matt Nagy are now NFL coaches. If Bieniemy were to leave, Kingsbury would be a perfect fit as Kingsbury coached Chiefs current starting QB Patrick Mahomes in college at Texas Tech. Mahomes put up video game numbers at Texas Tech and would do the same in the NFL is Kingsbury returned as his OC.
Dallas Cowboys:
If current head coach Jason Garrett keeps his head coaching job. He’s going to have to do something about Scott Linehan at the end of the season. So why not bring on Kingsbury as a offensive coordinator. As Kingsbury could do wonders with QB Dak Prescott, as he has with other dual threat quarterbacks.
Michigan Wolverines:
Michigan is 41st this year in total offense, which is not very good for a team looking to go as far as the Wolverines. Michigan has the talent on defense and now has a quarterback in Shea Patterson. Coach Harbaugh needs to realize that Michigan has fell short of success these past couple of years because of offensive play calling. If Harbaugh can bring Kingsbury into his staff it will change everything and give Michigan the efficient offense it needs to go along with their already very good defense.
