Minnesota Stuns Wisconsin
The Minnesota Golden Gophers crush the Wisconsin Badgers 37-15. Minnesota hasn’t beaten Wisconsin in 15 years.
Minnesota:
With a young defense that struggled this year it was a shock that they only allowed 2 touchdowns against Wisconsin. The “captain” of the defense Blake Cashman got ejected early in the game for targeting, but without him the Gophers still managed to allow only 2 Touchdowns. The offense for the Gophers was amazing. Demetrius Douglas had a 69 yard punt return for a touchdown, Freshman quarterback Tanner Morgan went 9-16 with 124 yards. Ibrahim rushed for 121 yards and got a touchdown. The main takeaway in the Gophers win was success on both sides of the field, which lead to the Gophers 14 game losing streak against Wisconsin end.
Wisconsin:
Wisconsin struggled badly against Minnesota. Alex Horninbrook threw 3 interceptions, the wide receiver dropped crucial passes and they just couldn’t keep up with the Minnesota defense. Jonathan Taylor rushed for 120 yards. Turnovers were also a major problem for Wisconsin. Wisconsin had 4 turnovers while Minnesota had none. Overall Wisconsin flat out didn’t execute. The defense allowed 3-3 4th down conversions for Minnesota which would result in points allowed. Wisconsin just didn’t play like the elite team they are. The started the year ranked 4th and game by game they’ve been struggling more and more which resulted in this embarrassing loss to Minnesota.
Three Stars:
3rd Star is the game was Demetrius Douglas. His big punt return touchdown formed momentum for the Gophers and it really set the tone for the rest of the game.
2nd Star Tanner Morgan, with no interceptions and going 9-16 he threw dimes to his receivers, good vision and awareness helped make big plays for the Gophers.
1st Star the Defense, Despite the ejection of Senior Blake Cashman early in the game the Defense forced 4 turnovers and only allowed 2 touchdowns despite facing an Elite Quarter Back and a Heisman caliber Running Back. The Success of the defense carried the Gophers to an impressive win over Wisconsin.
What’s next:
The Gophers clinch Bowl Eligibility finishing their regular season with a 6-6 record. Wisconsin is also Bowl Eligible with a 7-5 record. They will both find out their matches next week.
