Georgia vs Georgia Tech Preview
Deep History
Georgia hosts red hot Georgia Tech in Athens for the 114th meeting of Clean Old Fashioned Hate. Georgia currently leads the series 66-41-5. The last time Georgia played Georgia Tech, Georgia won by 31 points.
What’s at Stake
Georgia looks to maintain their path to the CFP, and go into the SEC championship with a dominant win. Although Georgia Tech can’t play for a conference championship. They look to extend their win streak to 5 games in a row and get into a better bowl game. Currently, Georgia is favored over Georgia Tech by 17 points. Too little or too much?
Keys to the Game for Georgia
I believe that Georgia will win by even more. If last year Georgia could beat them by 31, then what’s stopping Georgia’s high powered offense. Georgia Tech’s defense ranks 79th in Opponents points per game, while Georgia’s offense ranks 11th in ppg. If Georgia can figure out how to stop the triple option early in the game, Georgia can and will destroy Georgia Tech. Georgia Tech has a decent rush defense, but Georgia has explosive backs like D’Andre Swift and Elijah Holyfield to run all over Tech’s defense. Hopefully Justin Fields will get some good playing time to improve his experience and provide some more points for Georgia.
In order for Georgia Tech to even have a chance against Georgia, they must accomplish two things. Contain Georgia’s running game and apply pressure to Jake Fromm.
Prediction
I predict that Georgia will win 42-10. Although Georgia Tech has won 4 games in a row, they haven’t played anyone even close to Georgia’s level. IF Georgia can contain the run and balance the rushing and passing game. Georgia should be able to breeze past Georgia Tech and have momentum for the SEC Championship
