Duke Bullies San Diego State in Maui Jim Maui First Round
No. 1 Duke put San Diego State on the front stage and embarrassed them with a score of 90-64. This all came in the first round of the Maui Jim Maui Tournament on November 19, 2018. Duke remains atop the college basketball world and goes up to 4-0. And for San Diego State, piles down to 2-1 in a game that they weren’t expected to win.
Recap
San Diego State had the lead once in the whole game. When was this, you may ask? In the first half when they scored the first 2 point. And that was about the only positive that came out of this for the Aztecs. the Blue Devils just were on from their first point to their last. It was an all-round great game for Duke’s big-three in Zion Williamson, Cam Reddish, and R.J. Barrett. These 3 combined together for 49 points of Duke’s 90 and really set the tone of the game for both teams. If one of these three wasn’t in on a big play or shot, then it was followed by Tre Jones who has a bright future ahead of him. It just clicked on all cylinders for Duke to go in and pull off the win on a Monday night.
Player of the Game
I am going to give this one to Tre Jones who did his job outstandingly for the Blue Devils tonight. No, he didn’t put up the highest amount of points, but what he did do was on point. Jones ended the game with 14 points, 2 assists, 1 steal, 100% 3-PT Percentage, and 6-7 FG Percentage. Look for Jones to be the consistency leader for Duke this year.
