Virginia Tech Abolishes Northeastern in the 2nd Round of the Charleston Classic

Virginia Tech defeated Northeastern 88-60 in the 2nd round of the Charleston Classic. The Hokies will play the winner of No. 23 Purdue vs Davidson in the Championship on Sunday, November 18th at 8:30pm EDT.

The Hokies started out slow yet again but made a big surge at the end of the first half giving them a lead they would not drop. To end the half, the Hokies went on a 23-2 run which was capped off by Ahmed Hill who hit a buzzer beating 3 from the logo. In the first half, the Hokies 48 points came from 57% shooting from the floor, going 20-35, and 50% 3-point shooting going 8-16. Northeastern failed to make a single 2 point shot in the first half. Their 26 points came from 8, 3-pointers and 2 free throws. The Hokies offensive success continued in the 2nd half as they shot 59% from the floor making 16 of 27 shots. Virginia Tech outscored Northeastern 42-34 in the 2nd half which pushed the Hokies to their 28 point win.
Player of the Game
Yet again, another amazing performance from Nickeil Alexander-Walker earns him another RedCup Player of the game title. Nickeil scored 20 points off 8-17 shooting (47%) and 3-7 shooting from 3-point range (43%). Nickeil also added 4 rebounds 7 assists and 4 steals.

Northeasterns’ next game won’t be till Saturday, November 24th where they’ll head to Davidson to face the 2-0 Wildcats.
