#2 Clemson at #17 Boston College Preview
Clemson-Boston College Series
- Game will be at Alumni Stadium in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts
- Game will start at 8:00 PM ET on Saturday
- Series is led by Clemson 16-9-2
- Clemson holds current win streak of 7
Offensive Players to watch:
Clemson: Trevor Lawrence will be the leading factor on how productive of a day Clemson has. Lawrence, even has a freshman, has shown to be in the top category of college quarterbacks. Just eleven weeks into the season, Lawrence has racked up (1,549) passing yards with (18) touchdown throws. If this continues, this kid may be out of college within a year or two. I have no doubt that his offensive efficiency will reign over Saturday.
Boston College: AJ Dillon is the leading power-back out of Boston College who has had a great sophomore season. Even well into last year, Dillon ran absurd yardage over opposing defenses that weren’t aware of his talent. Dillon has now amounted (897) rushing yards with (8) rushing touchdowns to pair it up. Now, Dillon looks to improve on a tough, physical Clemson defense that will give him no slack to work with. If Boston College is to win, it’s through Dillon.
Defensive Players to watch:
Clemson: Dexter Lawrence runs defensive tackle for the Tigers and has proven he can clog the inside holes for this defense. And why is this important? AJ Dillon loves to power it through the inside, where the defenders are often slower. Don’t let Dillon’s physical strength make you think he will have an easy day on this line. With Lawrence, and many others, this line could very well all be in the NFL next year. Look for Lawrence to have a great game against this tough Boston College offensive line.
Boston College: Will Harris is the strong safety for the Eagles. His main focus is to disrupt any big-time plays that come out of the opposing offense. And so far, Harris has proven he can do his job and do it well. He has (55) total tackles as of now and wants to boost that up Saturday, with a hope for an interception. Harris needs to lock down the long passes from Clemson to make sure the Tigers don’t put his team away early.
The Basics:
The truth is that both of these teams have the tendency to start the game off slow. However, Clemson has looked to be better about it as of recently, while Boston College stills struggles against lesser defenses. I like Dillon and what the Eagles have composed this season, but their brand of play is just not at the level of Clemson’s. The scores are very different against common opponents with Clemson winning by a lot and Boston College by slightly comfortable margins. Also, if you look at Clemson’s defensive line, which could all play in the NFL soon, I don’t think they will give Dillon the productivity he wants. I think it is very physical, but Clemson’s offense outweighs what Boston College can do by a substantial margin.
Prediction:
37-16 Clemson
