Wake Forest at #14 NC State Preview
Wake Forest-NC State Series:
- Game will be at Carter-Finley Stadium in Raleigh, North Carolina
- Game will start at 7:30 PM ET
- Series is led by NC State 66-39-6
- Wake Forest holds current win streak of 1
Offensive Players to watch:
Wake Forest: Sam Hartman has been the center of this offense for the season with many 200+ passing yard games. Along this road, Hartman has thrown for 1,984 yards and placed 16 touchdowns within. I think the Demon Deacons will try to get this NC State secondary on it’s heels where they have given up, on average, (306.4) passing yards a game. This is the key player that Wake Forest will need to have a great game if they want to pull off an upset.
NC State: Ryan Finley has continually proven why he is running the offense at NC State. Finely is coming off of a (240) yard passing game and tossed up 3 touchdowns, also. NC State has been running a spread-like offense where they look to produce the highest air numbers in the conference. I think NC State will, once again, give he ball to Finley to change the course of this game.
Defensive Players to watch:
Wake Forest: Cameron Glenn has been at it this year in the secondary of Wake Forest. This man has collected (42) solo tackles, with the addition of (23) assisted tackles. I think Glenn will have himself a game Saturday to help slow down Finley, to hopefully heighten his stock for the NFL draft. We get to see what he can do this Thursday when he thrives to take down Finley’s passing attack.
NC State: James Smith-Williams runs the outside for the Wolfpack and has been dominant so far. Smith-Williams has had an unusual tendency this year, that I bet most players wish they had as well: Smith-Williams does a whole lot better under pressure. This is in the sense that we he gets to take on top programs that he gets to shine. In these “big games”, Smith-Williams has gathered (2.5) sacks and wants to get it even higher.
The Basics:
Both of these teams are not looking their absolute best as of now and his means his game could be wild. This is what happened last year exactly when Wake Forest knocked off NC State at home (30-24). I do think this game has the potential to get interesting, but I think NC State’s offense is too well put together for Wake Forest to stop.
Prediction
36-21 NC State
