Louisville at #13 Syracuse Preview
Louisville-Syracuse Series:
- Game will be at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, New York
- Game will start at 7:00 PM ET
- The series is led by Louisville 10-6
- Louisville holds current wins streak of 4
Offensive Players to watch:
Louisville: Jawon Pass. This might seem absurd, but follow me. Syracuse gives up, on average, (267.0) passing yards a game. And Pass averages (231.9) passing yards a game, this means he has room to work. For Louisville to even have the slightest of a chance, it will come from Pass. Even for not having a great season, this guy can ball out when he gets going.
Syracuse: Moe Neal is due to have a great game against a week Louisville rush game. Neal has had some great games throughout the year and I think he is due for another. His ability to space out the defense for Dungey to run or pass is a viable asset for the Orange. I think we will see more productivity out of him this game, especially because of the weakness of Louisville’s rushing stop.
Defensive Players to watch:
Louisville: Dorian Etheridge runs the mid-field of Louisville and is the “lookout” against double-threat quarterbacks, Dungey is an example. Etheridge has been doing great for Louisville, especially with being just a sophomore. His freshman year consisted of (72) total tackles and (35) solo tackles. If Etheridge can keep up these numbers, he might be a great NFL talent.
Syracuse: Alton Robinson, just like Etheridge, leaves no doubt in my mind that he will be an NFL talent. Robinson has (7.0) sacks under his belt with (13.0) tackles for loss to add to it. Syracuse has primarily been a Tampa-2 defensive team that loves to apply pressure on the lines, rather than through linebackers. I feel that Robinson will have the another great game to add tot his column.
The Basics:
Syracuse is a team that gives up A LOT of passing yards on pass-first teams and that is a real weakness. However, if you know ACC football, you know what the Carrier Dome means to this Syracuse team. It means that they will fight until the clock reads triple zeros to ensure your team is buried six-feet-under. I like Pass to have another high-yardage game, but Syracuse is looking to good this season and Louisville too bad.
Prediction:
45-17 Syracuse
