Florida State at #3 Notre Dame Preview
Florida State-Notre Dame Series:
- Game will be at Notre Dame Stadium in South Bend, Indiana
- Game will start at 7:30 PM ET
- Series is led by Florida State 6-2
- Florida State holds current win streak of 3
Offensive Players to watch:
Florida State: Nyqwan Murray has played a big role in the Florida State defensive core this season. Murray is fast and elusive, which makes it hard for defensive backs to stop him. The current stats for Murray sit at (571) receiving yards in 42 receptions and (3) touchdowns. Florida State will look to give the ball into Murray hands in order to make plays down-field.
Notre Dame: Ian Book has been the flip of success for Notre Dame this year and wants to etch his name into ND history. Book has had a season for the ages with (1,824) passing yards and (15) touchdowns tossed. Book gets to get at a Florida State defense that is currently giving up (282.6) passing yards a game. Book will get to display his greatness at home and hopefully improve to 10-0.
Defensive Players to watch:
Florida State: Brian Burns is the leading pass rusher on the Florida State defense and his having a great junior year. Burns has amounted (9.0) sacks and (13.5) tackles-for-loss. This means that Burns has the same tackles-for-loss as Ed Oliver. If Burns can get through his young Notre Dame line and get to Book, he will be closer to Ed Oliver and that level of defensive production.
Notre Dame: Julian Love has played spoiler to many star-receivers this season and wants to do that to some of the offensive talent on Florida State. Love comes into the game with an interception and (35) total tackles. This means that Love has been a consistent player for the Irish this year that has propped up their secondary. Love will be loving his situation in Florida State that has an interception-prone quarterback.
The Basics:
I actually liked Florida State to come in and keep it extremely close. There is a reoccurring theme in Notre Dame to do bad against lesser opponents that is bothering me in the playoff sense. However, Florida State’s defensive game, in the secondary to be exact, will give up one or two touchdowns that will put them back. Sorry, Florida State, but you have to battle it out to keep that “bowl record”.
Prediction:
31-16 Notre Dame
