Kansas Survives Late Run By Michigan State To Improve To 1-0
The first meaningful game of college basketball season was dominated by the number one ranked Kansas Jayhawks.
At halftime, Kansas jumped out to a 50-36 lead, but I will give credit where credit is due. The Spartans didn’t quit. Izzo’s Spartans where able to widdle the KU lead down to 8 with under three minutes in the game. Although, KU was eventually able to protect their small lead and secure the victory.
Freshman, Quentin Grimes led the Jayhawks in scoring with 21 points. In his college debut, Grimes hit 6 3 point shots in the win for KU.
Josh Langford led the Spartans in scoring with 18. Langford shot 5-11 from the field.
After a valiant effort from his team, Tom Izzo and the Spartans will look to regroup on Sunday when they take on Florida Gulf Coast.
Next up for Kansas is Vermont.
