Pac 12 Week 10 Preview
The College Football rankings came out just a couple nights ago and with all of that, the Pac 12 is limited in it’s representation in those rankings. A lot of people in the preseason did not expect the 2 teams to be ranked in the first playoff rankings is Utah and Washington State. With that. we’ll take a look at this week’s slate and see if their is any upsets potentially happening in Week 10.
Friday: Colorado vs. Arizona
Oh how the mighty fall. After a 5-0 start, Colorado has taken a nose dive and is scrambling to pick themselves back up. A Friday night game in Tucson will be difficult against a team that just come off it’s best performance of the season against Oregon. JJ Taylor and Khalil Tate are coming off of very good games and with Colorado’s woes recently, I see the Wildcats taking this one as they’ve been impressive after a lackluster start to begin the year.
Arizona 41, Colorado 24
Saturday: #15 Utah vs. Arizona State
In what will be a tough test for statistically, the Pac 12’s best defense, Utah has to stop one of the top receivers in the nation, the top running back in the conference as well as a very mobile QB. Zack Moss for Utah’s offense however is coming off one of his best games in the year. Utah leads the South division as ASU looks to separate themselves from the pack and a win could very well do that. Even in a hostile environment, Utah is able to contain ASU’s offense and Tyler Huntley plays one of his best games of the season.
Utah 34, Arizona State 24
UCLA vs. Oregon
What Duck fans have been waiting for all season long. Chip Kelly’s long awaited return back to Autzen Stadium. But he’ll be wearing gold and baby blue. After back to back wins, UCLA fell back down to earth as getting thrashed by Utah. Oregon is also coming off an embarrassing loss with Justin Herbert coming off one of his worst games of the year finishing below 200 yards and zero touchdowns. Both teams looked bad on both sides of the ball, but only one can rebound and pick up a win. Herbert gets back on the right track and C.J Verdell picks up a couple of touchdowns on the ground as Oregon picks up a win and revenge on Chip Kelly.
Oregon 44, UCLA 20
Stanford vs. Washington
With high expectations in both teams to begin the year, it’s crazy to think neither of these teams could miss out on the Pac-12 title game. Both are coming off of close losses in two completely different styles of games. UW’s offense struggled mightily, while Stanford’s defense staggered against a really good Washington State offense. With home field advantage, the stout defense, and a much better game from Myles Gaskin, Washington pulls out the win they needed to stay in the hunt.
Washington 27, Stanford 21
USC vs. Oregon State
Oregon State shocked the entire conference last week as they picked up their first conference win of the year and the best performance we’ve seen out of Jake Luton all year long. J.T. Daniels looks to return this week against the Beavers, but if there is a problem with Daniels, USC showed they have a capable backup in Jack Sears. He threw for 235 yards and 2 touchdowns last week against ASU. J.T. Daniels returns and does enough to lift USC over Oregon State.
USC 38, Oregon State 27
#8 Washington State vs. Cal
If someone would’ve said that in November, Washington State would be the highest ranked team in the conference, would you have believed them? Well they are and Mike Leach continues to be a national treasure with his recent interview discussing Halloween costumes and other Halloween costumes (never change Mike, NEVER). Cal comes in with some momentum after a big time home win and with their offense clicking recently, don’t be surprised if this game is a lot closer than people think. The line is at 10 currently and if I was a betting man, I’d take Cal with the points.
#8 Washington State 35, Cal 31
