BIG TEN Basketball Preview: Michigan
Michigan will lose a lot of key players from their 2018 Final Four team. John Beilein will be forced to replace players such as Moe Wagner, Muhammad- Ali- Abdul Rakhman, and Duncan Robinson.
Michigan was in a extremely similar situation heading into last season. The Wolverines had lost start point guard, Derrick Walton Jr,and promising big man, D.J Wilson. With the odds stacked up against them, Michigan ended up having a historic season. John Beilein led his team to a 33-8 record, a Big Ten championship, and a Final Four berth. Michigan fans can only hope for some of the same success this season.
With the departure of Moe Wagner, junior John Teske will finally have his time to shine. In his sophomore season Teske showed potential of the player he could be. Teske scored 3.4 points per game to go along with 3 rebounds. Teske was shadowed by Moe Wagner for much of the 2018 season, but with Wagner gone Teske is about to join the party and lets just say Teske is not going to just be selling drinks.
Last year Jordan Poole announced his entrance to the college basketball scene with his absurd 3 point buzzer beater to beat Houston in the second round of the NCAA tournament. The sophomore from Milwaukee scored 6 points per game in his freshman season. Poole will enjoy much more playing time in the 2018-19 season. Expect Poole to have a very solid sophomore year.
Although UM lost a ton of talent from the 33-8 team last year, the Wolverines do have some very capable players returning. Expect Michigan to have yet another great season.
