#3 Notre Dame at Navy Preview
#3 Notre Dame at Navy Series:
- Game will be at SDCCU Stadium in San Diego, California
- Game will start at 8:00 PM ET
- Series is led by Notre Dame 75-13-1
- Notre Dame holds current win streak of 1
Offensive Players to watch:
Notre Dame: Ian Book has stepped in for former starting QB, Brandon Wimbush, after a sloppy start. Ian Book has the ability to spread out defenses in an attempt to stop his great passing IQ. Book currently holds 1,151 passing yards on the season with 11 passing TDs. Notre Dame will lean on Ian Book to make big plays against this less-than-savory Navy secondary.
Navy: Malcolm Perry is the leading rusher and starting RB for Navy this season. He can make defenses pay with his speedy rush that breaks apart opposing defenses. Perry has 729 rushing yards on the season and packs 7 TDs with it as well. Navy will look to spread out this Notre Dame defense and chew clock with Perry at the helm.
Defensive Players to watch:
Notre Dame: One name that you might even be hearing well into professional football is Drue Tranquill. This kid, at outside linebacker, has caused mischief and misfortune for any offense that has stood in front of him. Tranquill’s ability to disrupt outside rushing/passing lanes has easily outmatched many in the league. Look for more out of this kid as he has already amounted 46 tackles.
Navy: Jarid Ryan is a senior and a CB for the Midshipmen. He can find his offense counterpart and ensure that no big play can come out of it. Ryan has had a great year, so far, in that he has 19 total tackles with 3 interceptions to ascend his stock. It will be no surprise to see Jarid Ryan have a good game against Notre Dame.
The Basics:
This isn’t the consistent Navy that we know and love. This is (2-5) Navy that lets up (34.4) points a game. I assume most people don’t want to see this Notre Dame team in the playoff due to inconsistency and the lacking of a conference. However, this team has already proven that they should be in the Playoff and I think they show you even more this weekend.
Prediction:
45-17 Notre Dame
