#22 NC State at Syracuse Preview
#22 NC State at Syracuse Series:
- Game will be at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, New York
- Game will start at 7:00 PM ET
- Series is lead by NC State 10-1
- NC State holds current win streak of 4
Offensive Players to watch:
NC State: Reggie Gallaspy II isn’t a name that most are familiar with, however with that is different to NC State. Gallaspy only has 383 yards on 98 carries this year, but that isn’t a surprise. NC State is known for its aggressive passing and the only way to balance that is to bring the defense back in with some running. I think NC State will give more floor to Gallaspy to do his thing in preparation that Syracuse has prepared for a pass attack.
Syracuse: It would be a crime to not say Eric Dungey, once again. This kid has done an unbelievable job at running the Syracuse backfield for the last couple seasons. Dungey’s ability to move quickly always has defenses on their heels waiting for his move. This, also, provides room for other players to make plays. Watch for him to do his thing. Dungey has 477 rushing yards and 1,433 passing yards (leads team in both).
Defensive Players to watch:
NC State: Germaine Pratt is a key motive to why this NC State defense works so hard. Pratt’s ability to watch for the run and play-action combine to make him the player he is. Pratt needs to keep on his game to ensure that Eric Dungey doesn’t have too much fun Saturday. Also, he will need to rally the team, after a tough loss to Clemson last week.
Syracuse: Chris Slayton has been an aggressor for the Syracuse defense for a while now. His tendency to rush the inside and still get to the QB is impressive. Also, Slayton is known to plug the running lanes for opponents on the inside. Look for Slayton to repeat his production he’s had this season with an average of 2 tackles a game.
The Basics:
This is a real toss up. Syracuse is home in the dome hosting an NC State team that is seeking to avoid more embarrassment. Syracuse, however, has a really productive offense with an average of (42.6) points a game, opposed to NC State’s (28.7). I think that NC State will try to hard to overcompensate for their fall last week and will get upset in the Dome.
Prediction:
34-29 Syracuse
