Explanation: The Gators’ roster has a surplus of elite scorers, but the departure of senior, Chris Chiozza (6.1 apg) means that this roster lacks a facilitator. Florida could begin the year relying on an isolation offense, so until they prove they can forgo personal averages and “share the wealth,” They will not be an elite team
This Gators’ team strength lays in their perfect mixture of youth and experience. The Gators’ Starting lineup consists of 3 seniors and 2 juniors. In past college basketball seasons, teams with experience have risen to the top.
The Gators will be led by Virginia Tech transfer, Jalen Hudson (15.5 ppg, 3.1 rpg). Last season Hudson exploded onto the college basketball scene.
Hudson initially entered his name in the 2018 NBA draft, but without inking an agent. Hudson’s dream, like any other young basketball player is to someday play in the NBA. After working out for multiple NBA teams, Hudson decided that it was in his best interest to return to college for another season. Head coach, Mike White said that, “He’s got a lot of feedback from the NBA knowing what he’s got to prove upon to potentially put him in a better spot next year.” There have been many college basketball players who have put there name in the draft only to return to college and improve their draft stock. Hudson’s senior season will be critical in deciding his basketball future.
With an experienced backcourt and a very talented frontcourt returning to Gainesville, Mike White is in a great position to send yet another team into the NCAA tournament.
