Roundtable Questions for the 2018-19 CBB Season
Q1 – POTY: Who, if anyone, can beat out Carsen Edwards?
The selective award caters to the upperclassmen — but the freshman class shows beaming colors. RJ Barrett is contender-one, in a perfect system to succeed in a program with national appeal. Zion Williamson — or to a lesser degree — Cam Reddish could stir the pot, too. Indiana’s Romeo Langford and UCLA’s Kris Wilkes are my not-so-dark-horses for the trophy, both could mingle with twenty-ppg.
Q2 – National Champion: Does Villanova Repeat as champions?
Villanova is king, but Kentucky is making a play for the throne. For Calipari’s NBA-esque roster, faults are nit-picky. Assuming the arbitrary nature of March Madness is kept to a minimum, Kentucky will be the heir to the crown.
Q3 – Possible Cinderella:
2018’s Loyola wanna-be, or at least a tournament underdog, is Iowa State. With Lindell Wigginton returning and a solid core around him, the Cyclones could finish fourth in the Big-12. Another non-power five team to keep an eye on is Montana. Big Sky DPOY Michael Oguine returns, and practically every other key player. After almost knocking out Michigan in the first round last year, they are coming in looking for revenge.
