Pick Six: 6 Storylines to follow into Week 8
Sorry for not getting a Pick Six out last week, it was a busy one. However, let’s not get distracted from last week and this week. From Week 7, we saw a crazy amount of upsets in all areas of college football. Now we look to see who will storm out front and take the crown:
Can Ducks Fly?
After dropping a close one in overtime to Stanford during Week 4, the Ducks of Oregon have won 2 straight. These 2 straight have been against #24 California and #7 Washington. This is a big step for the Ducks, since dropping to Stanford. Oregon now travels to Pullman, Washington where they take on #25 Washington State with College Gameday in town. If the Ducks can get a win against the Cougars, then they will now be in position to be PAC-12 favorites.
Battle for the state of Michigan
Both after impressive wins against Top-15 opponents, Michigan and Michigan State are to battle it out in East Lansing, Michigan this weekend. Michigan is looking like they are developing into a potential playoff team, while Michigan State is looking to fly in front and steal the Big Ten East. This series has been a constant clash of great football for all fans to watch. Often, these games end off with a crazy set of events to cap it. It is looking to be a great game for us at noon ET and it won’t disappoint.
ACC Atlantic In the Air
Clemson has run the ACC Atlantic for 3 years now, this year NC State looks to knock them off and take over. Led by Trevor Lawrence, after almost losing him to a concussion, the Clemson Tigers are looking unstoppable after establishing a new-found run game. With being held at Memorial Stadium, the Clemson Tigers hold a home-field-advantage over the Wolfpack. However, NC State has been looking great against other well playing ACC opponent and could do the same Saturday. Both teams come into the game undefeated and very much inclined to leave the same. Tune in at 3:30 PM ET to watch this throw down.
Don’t Fall Off
Last week we had a ton of upsets, but we also had some of the great teams that under performed for us. This short list of teams being: Ohio State, Notre Dame, UCF, Texas, and Florida. These teams all didn’t quite win by the number of points we wanted them to. And honestly, these four teams could end up finding themselves in the playoff if things go their way. However, if they want it to stay this way, they need to keep up on spirits and not cut any slack on lesser opponents. One team that really cannot afford to be performing at a lesser rate is Notre Dame. Notre Dame is predicted to be in the playoff, along with Ohio State, but Ohio State can afford to lose because they can earn points back with a conference championship win. Lets see what these teams can wrench out to get where they want to be: the College Football Playoff.
Rosier to lead the Canes
A disappointing leading by Freshman QB, N’Kosi Perry, Miami’s coaching staff has decided to go back with Malik Rosier to lead the Canes. This is surprising after Perry having led the team to a 5-1 record, before their collapse to Virginia. Many would say that this move was not on their radar and was saying the move was “unneeded”. It is now up to Malik Rosier to go show fans and coaching staff, alike, that he should be leading the Hurricanes in their final stretch of the season.
Will Tua Show?
After Tua Tagovailoa went down in the 4th quarter in the Alabama-Missouri game, many were unsure what his status would be in the matchup against Tennessee. Tagovailoa went down with a knee injury in the ending parts of the Missouri game. Many speculate that head coach, Nick Saban, will not start Tagovailoa to keep him healthy down the road, when they need him more. Plus, experts think that they should even rest him a week more to be in his best shape for their matchup with LSU. Whatever Alabama may do, they better think of it quick as Tennessee knocked off #21 Auburn last week.
