Should The Wolverines be on Top of Big 10?
Wolverines the next “Big Dogs” in the Big 10
Last season Michigan made it to the Finals as they lost to Villanova by 17 points. Michigan loses a lot of guys from last years team, most notably Moritz Wagner, Muhammad Ali-Abdur Rahkman, and Duncan Robinson. They were great defending team last season and they were a great team to get to the free throw line. But however, they struggled to make Free Throws. They ranked 323rd on made FT. In the game against Villanova they shot 11-18 from the line (61.1%). They did lose key pieces from last years team, but Michigan fans still say they should be #1 in the Big 10.
Beilein has shown that he can coach and many think he doesn’t get the respect he deserves. On the other hand, there are so many teams better than Michigan. Players like Jordan Poole, Charles Matthews, Zavier Simpson, and Jon Teske will need to carry the load. Big games crucial to Michigan’s success include Villanova (at Nova) and North Carolina (at Crisler Center). Beilein is doomed for another FF and another break out year. I am often getting told that The Wolverines are the best team in the Big 10, but get no love because Beilein has not won a championship and the only Hall Of Fame coach in the Big Ten is rival Michigan State.
The last couple of seasons Michigan has been beating up on them; last season Michigan absolutely steam rolled the Spartans twice. The first time they beat Michigan State by 10 and the second time beat them by 11 in the Big 10 tournament. Michigan has showed that they can compete with anyone and they have shown they can still rise even with adversity. They have a good core to build around. Michigan in my eyes are maybe 4th or 5th competing with teams such as Michigan State, Nebraska, Indiana, Purdue and maybe Iowa. Michigan deserves respect from Big 10 fans.
