It’s Time For Kirby Smart To Give Justin Fields A Chance
Yesterday, the Georgia Bulldogs fell on the road to LSU by a score of 36-16. The Bulldogs lost this game because of their starting quarterback, Jake Fromm. In the losing effort, Fromm passed for 209 yards on 16 completions in 34 attempts. This was Fromm’s lowest completion percentage of the season.
What these numbers fail to show you is the fact that Fromm missed many throws that could have resulted in points. On multiple occasions, Fromm overthrew wide receivers that would have scored if Fromm gave them a chance to catch the football.
Georgia has a lot of play makers on offense, but these weapons are rendered useless when you have a quarterback who fails to use them properly. Jake Fromm is simply not a good enough passer to utilize these weapons.
Its clear that Kirby Smart didn’t want to make this move, but he has waited long enough. Its time to give Justin Fields a chance.
It is still unclear weather Fields will start next week vs Florida. Head coach, Kirby Smart said he will go with the guy who gives them the best chance to win. Although, to most, its clear that Georgia can no longer continue with Fromm at the helm.
Kirby Smart on Fromm vs Fields. “It’s easy to question it now & we’ll look at just like everyone else…We’ll always go with the guy that we think gives us the best chance to win. But let’s not pin mistakes on guy tonight. There were plenty of mistakes to go around.” pic.twitter.com/lVuxrK0lkF— Ryan McGee (@ESPNMcGee) October 13, 2018
