Team Overview
Virginia Tech
The Hokies (3-2, 2-0 ACC) are coming off a loss tough loss to No. 5 Notre Dame. Virginia Tech will be looking for some big wins to get themselves back into the Top 25 and that starts with North Carolina. Head Coach Justin Fuente is undefeated in the State of North Carolina while at Virginia Tech and the Hokies will be looking to remain undefeated.
North Carolina
The Tar Heels (1-3, 1-1 ACC) are trying to get back on track with a statement win vs a quality ACC opponent. Already off to another bad start, the Tar Heels have announced that QB Chazz Surratt is out for the season. This means that Junior QB Nathan Elliott will take over as the full time starter again. Nathan has thrown for 773 yards and 3 touchdowns with 4 interceptions. UNC hasn’t beaten Virginia Tech since 2015 when they won in overtime at Virginia Tech 30-27. They look to hand the Hokies their first ACC loss in an upset.
Keys to Victory
Virginia Tech
The Hokies need to take care of the ball and get off to a fast start. Turnovers will give UNC momentum and a chance to get ahead. The Hokies will also need to get off to a fast start and put the Tar Heels away. If the give them a chance to hang around, like the Hokies did with ODU, UNC could make a few big plays and turn the game around.
North Carolina
North Carolina will need to beat the Hokies young DB’s down the field. Virginia Tech is 120th in the nation for pass defense and the Tar Heels need to exploit that. If they get the Hokies DB’s on their heels then it will open up UNC’s run game and they can keep the Hokies defense on their heels.
Score Prediction
Virginia Tech will head down to Chapel Hill and leave with a big win keeping Fuente undefeated in North Carolina.
